We all can see the impact of disproportionate commercial rents, high business rates and the lack of funding on our town centre. This is why I am working with the Government to help to deliver a balanced economic recovery to ensure that our businesses have every opportunity to thrive, whilst addressing the key issues on our high street that are negatively impacting our local businesses. Constituents can let me know what they would like to see change in our town centre, by completing my Town Centre Regeneration Survey.
James used his position as Member of Parliament to help support businesses across the town centre to receive support throughout the Coronavirus pandemic, and is now aiming to help deliver the most effective use of the £20 million extra funding through the Levelling Up Fund. He is currently working to help push forward plans to deliver the regeneration of Leigh Market as well as shop front regeneration schemes across Bradshawgate, Market Street and Railway Road. There is also a clear need to use the funding to develop new business opportunities in the town centre to increase footfall and provide new jobs for local people.
