Did you know that Leigh Town Hall, Leigh Library, Parsonage Retail Park, Westleigh High School, Lancashire Mining Museum and other areas, could soon be removed from the Leigh constituency?
As a part of the upcoming boundary review, the Boundary Commission has put forward proposals that will tear apart our local community. If these plans go ahead, Leigh West will be moved into the Ashton in Makerfield constituency, and Astley Mosley Common ward would become part of Worsley & Eccles South constituency.
The Leigh constituency has a culture, an identity, and a definable community spirit that must be protected. But, in order to do this, we need your help! So, please join our fight to Keep Leigh in Leigh by commenting on the proposal or submitting a copy of a letter to the Boundary Commission by 2 August 2021 using the methods below.
The petition to the Boundary Commission's Proposals has now met the deadline and objections can no longer be raised.
James Grundy MP was pleased to have had seen so many across the Leigh constituency get involved with the campaign to 'Keep Leigh in Leigh', both at home, out across the constituency and at public stalls organised by himself.
As a result of so many getting involved, Mr Grundy went down to the Boundary Commission's offices in London on the deadline to personally hand the hundreds of objections from those across the constituency over to them for review. The commission indicated that the amount received against the Boundary Review's proposals were substantial.
The Boundary Commission are now overlooking these proposals and will announce their decision on the constituency boundaries in due course.
