With the Coronavirus pandemic still very much on everyone’s minds, it’s only right that I take the time in this week’s column to outline what my team and I have been doing to assist my constituents during this worrying time.

MP urges Council to reconsider decision to close Leigh Market

See below James Grundy MP's letter to Wigan Council, urging them to reopen Leigh Market in accordance with Government guidance. 

"Dear Alison,

I write to you further to my previous correspondence regarding the closure of essential food stalls at Leigh Market. 

James Grundy meets with Lowton & Golborne Police

Today I met with the Lowton and Golborne Community Policing Team to discuss the issues affecting both communities. It was great to welcome the three new PCSO's to the Lowton and Golborne beat, the highest number we have ever had in the area.

James Grundy first surgery in Lowton St Mary's

Yesterday I held my first surgery as an MP, at Lowton St Mary's Community Hall. I was very grateful for the warm welcome from local residents, and look forward to holding similar surgeries around the constituency in due course.

Fly-tipping in Westleigh

Carried out my last piece of casework before the Christmas break today, visiting Larch Road, Westleigh, to check on a report of fly tipping and a missing blue bin. 

James Grundy is the MP for Leigh

James Grundy has become the first Conservative MP for Leigh after yesterday's General Election, receiving 45.3% of the vote.

Commenting on Facebook, James said, "Long story short - It went a bit better than expected!"
